Most of the time, the mind interferes. It judges. It hesitates. It watches itself perform. Instead of becoming absorbed in the moment, you wonder whether you are doing well, how you appear, and what might go wrong. You are present, but not fully there.

Then, sometimes, the noise disappears. You stop observing yourself and become absorbed in the action. The game plays. The body moves. Time becomes strangely quiet, decisions arise without effort, and action flows before self-conscious thought can interrupt it.

Zen calls this mushin: “no mind.” Not an empty brain. Not the absence of emotion. It is a mind that does not cling to every thought, fear, desire, or judgment passing through it. Thoughts may still appear, but you no longer have to stop, grasp them, and turn each one into a story about yourself.

You simply respond. Naturally. Completely. Like a musician disappearing into the music, an athlete into movement, or an artist into the act of creation.

This is why deep immersion can feel like happiness. For a moment, there is nothing to defend. No image to maintain. There is only this moment—and your full participation in it.

You do not disappear. The distance between you and life does.

Before enlightenment, life feels ordinary. You chop wood. You carry water. But your mind is elsewhere. You treat each task as a burden to overcome and the present as a waiting room before your real life begins. You are always waiting for another moment.

Then something changes. Not the world, but the way you see it. You still chop wood. You still carry water. Your responsibilities, difficulties, and daily routines remain, but you no longer believe that you must escape them. You realize that peace is not somewhere beyond what you are doing, waiting for you in a perfect future.

When chopping wood, you simply chop wood. When carrying water, you simply carry water. The mind is here. The same life is now lived differently; what changes is not the action, but your relationship with it.

Enlightenment does not remove you from everyday life. It brings you fully back into it. Right here.

When you truly work for yourself, you won’t have hobbies, you won’t have weekends, and you won’t have vacations, but you won’t have work either.

You are the business. You are the product. You are the work. You are the entity, and you care — so you can’t turn it off. That’s the curse of the entrepreneur. But if you’re doing it for the right reasons, it doesn’t feel like work.

A taste of freedom can make you unemployable.
