Vaktiyle 2.0: A New Way to Explore History
What city is this? How old are these buildings? What can the clothes, vehicles, and landscape tell you?
Vaktiyle is a history and geography guessing game where you guess the place and year of historical scenes. Each game has five rounds. Look around a 360-degree scene, choose a location on the map, and pick a year.
Vaktiyle 2.0 makes the experience easier to play and gives you more to discover after every guess. Here’s what’s new.
Better Mobile Controls
We’ve updated the mobile layout. The map, year picker, and submit button now fit together without covering each other. Controls adjust whether you hold your phone upright or sideways.
Open the map to choose a place, then switch to the year picker. Larger buttons make it easier to change your choices and return to the scene.
On desktop, a cleaner layout and an expandable map give you more space to explore.
Pick the Exact Year More Easily
Finding the right period and choosing an exact year now feel simpler.
Start with the full timeline, then use a smaller range to adjust your guess. You can also type a year directly and choose BC or AD. Buttons let you move by one, ten, or one hundred years.
Choosing a location is easier, too. Drag your pin to a new spot or select the point at the center of the map. Before submitting, you can check both your location and year.
Learn as You Play
New to Vaktiyle? Short tips guide you through your first round: look around, choose a place, pick a year, and submit.
You can skip the tips or open them again from the help menu. Each new round starts with the tools closed, giving you a clear view of the scene.
If you still need to choose a location or year, the game shows you what’s missing.
Discover More After Every Guess
The updated results screen shows the correct place and date first. You can then see how far away your guess was, in both distance and years.
Short history notes explain what the scene shows and why it matters. Visual clues, such as buildings, clothing, and transport, help you understand the answer.
Missed a detail? Choose “Review the scene” to look again. Your score stays the same, so you can explore with the answer in mind.
Understand Your Score
Location points, year points, and bonuses are now easier to read.
After five rounds, the game shows your closest guesses and whether you did better at finding places or dates. Open any round from the summary to compare your guess with the correct answer.
You can also revisit recent games and check your personal best in the same browser.
Continue Where You Left Off
Taking a break no longer means starting again. Return on the same device and browser to continue your saved game, including completed rounds and your current choices.
If a connection problem interrupts a guess, you’ll see a clear message and a retry option. You can try again without choosing your location and year from scratch.
Try the Daily Challenge
The new daily challenge gives everyone the same five scenes each day. Make your guesses, then compare your results with friends.
Share a score summary without revealing the correct places or dates. Copy your results or download them as an image to invite others to try.
In regular games, scenes you haven’t seen before come first. When enough scenes are available, you’ll explore a wider mix of places and periods.
Smoother Play and Clearer Historical Content
We’ve improved image loading and added smaller previews. Images suited to your device help reduce unnecessary downloads.
Keyboard controls work more clearly, too. Changing the year or moving around the map no longer moves the scene behind it. More readable text, visible keyboard focus, and reduced-motion support make the controls easier to use.
We’ve also made our historical content clearer. Scenes are identified as created reconstructions of the past. Approximate dates are labeled, and place names, dates, and descriptions are checked for consistency before publication.
Five scenes. Five places. Five dates. Play Vaktiyle 2.0 and see how close you can get.
